Silk Road City Guide - Urumqi

Morning arrived to Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region which is situated at the northern foot of the snow-capped Tianshan Mountains. Our Urumqi tour includes the Museum of National Minorities and History housing the bodies from Turpan Astana tombs, the Ardaoqiao Market, a covered street of food & textile stalls. Later we take our short flight to Kashgar. (B) (D)

Kashgar Our tour of Kashgar includes the Id Kah Mosque, built in 1442, the Abakh Hoja Tomb, and Kashgar, finest piece of Islamic architecture. We also se its green tiled dome which is the centerpiece of a burial complex wherein lie 72 bodies from five generations of the same noble Uyghur family. When it was built, no one can agree. Opinions range from 1640 to the late 18th century. Its first occupant was a Muslim missionary called Yusuf Hoja, but it named after his more famous son, Abakh Hoja or Abkhoja, who became leader of a local Islamic sect and in some accounts ruler of Kashgar, and died in 1693. Evening we stroll through this very traditional town. (B) (D)

Visiting The famous and historical Sunday Bazaar brings over a 100,000 people of different nationalities and ethnic groups.

After lunch depart from Kashgar to Urumqi to Sweat home .

At noon arrive in Urumqi,in the afternoon Urumqi sightseeing.
