Western Thousand-Buddha Caves of Dunhuang
| |

The Western Thousand-Buddha Cave is west to the Mogao
Grottoes, separated by the Echoing Sand Mountain.
Although its scale is not that huge, the surroundings
of the Western Thousand-Buddha are beautiful and quiet,
facing water and standing against mountain. The Western
Thousand-Buddha Cave is a part of Dunhuang Buddhism
art. The remaining 17 caverns were made from Northern
Wei Dynasty to Song Dynasty. The caverns' artistic
style is the same as that of Mogao Caves of the same
period.
